Volume of shrimp grown in Iran announced

About 48,900 tons of shrimp were grown in Iran during the first 9 months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through December 20, 2020), Deputy Director-General for Aquaculture of Iran’s Fisheries Organization Hossein Abdollahi said, Trend reports referring to the organization.

According to Abdollahi, in total, 526,000 tons of fish, shrimp, sturgeon and others were grown in fish farms in Iran for 9 months.

The deputy director added that Iran produced about 2,500 tons of sturgeon and 10.6 tons of caviar in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

“The volume of Iran's caviar exports amounted to 1.3 tons in the last Iranian, and 2.5 tons over the 9 months of current Iranian,” he said.

As reported, in general, Iran produced 1.28 million tons of fishery products in the last Iranian year.
