Chinese company to breed shrimps in Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan

Chinese Tianjin Kaiteng Investment Group Co, Ltd will start shrimp breeding in the Kegeili region of Karakalpakstan Republic in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Information Service of the State Committee veterinary and livestock development of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issue was discussed during an online meeting of employees of the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Development of Uzbekistan with a representative of the Chinese Tianjin Kaiteng Investment Group Co, Ltd, Professor Wen Jie Wang.

The parties discussed the issue of accelerating the implementation of the project to create an agricultural research and production park in the form of a diversified cluster.

It was noted that the necessary land area has been allocated in the Kegeili region, and organizational work is underway to import fodder seeds from China.

It is expected that the $90 million project will be fully implemented in 2021-2024. It is planned to create more than 450 jobs.

“As soon as the cluster starts operating at full capacity, 20,000 heads of cattle, five million heads of Pekin ducks and 500 tons of shrimp will be raised here annually,” the statement said.

The project also provides for the construction of a livestock farm, experimental farms, a factory for the production of animal feed, veterinary drugs and feed additives, a plant for the production of mineral fertilizers and pesticides, a tannery, as well as the development of logistics and trade networks.
