Some 16.5 tons of hazelnuts worth $86.1 million were exported from Georgia from August 1 to February 21, 2021, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
In the reporting period 5.7 tons of hazelnuts were exported that is (53 percent) more than in the same period of 2019, while the export value increased by $30.7 million (55 percent).
Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to EU markets, namely Germany (4,342 tons), Italy (3,927 tons), Czech Republic (804 tons), Spain (489 tons), Poland (385 tons), Lithuania (486 tons), Bulgaria (367 tons), France (218 tons), Greece (97 tons), Estonia (88 tons), Latvia (128 tons), Luxembourg (84 tons), Slovakia (86 tons), Belgium (44 tons).
Georgian hazelnuts were also exported to countries such as Russia (799 tons), Belarus (543 tons), Turkey (530), Ukraine (354 tons), Algeria (185 tons), Brazil (186 tons), Canada (195 tons), Saudi Arabia (223 tons), Mexico (67 tons), Syria (50 tons), Switzerland (131 tons), Uzbekistan (80 tons), Azerbaijan (44 tons), Jordan (38 tons), Iraq (24 tons), Great Britain (35 tons), US (19 tons) and others.
