By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Azerbaijan has exported over 3,000 tons of hazelnuts since the beginning of the year, which is by 20 percent less than in the same period of last year, Ismayil Orujov, chairman of the Azerbaijani Association of Hazelnut Producers and Exporters, told Trend.

“The revenues from the export of hazelnuts amounted to over $20 million since the beginning of the year,” chairman said.

Orujov said that today a ton of hazelnuts costs 11,000-12,000 manat ($6,470-7,058).

"Azerbaijan exported more peeled hazelnuts to the Russian market in the first half of 2020,” chairman said. “The export volume to Italy sharply increased by the end of the year. We plan to start to export hazelnuts to Egypt and Pakistan, as well as increase supplies to Italy in 2021."

The chairman of the association stressed that the government's measures to promote the products under the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand in the foreign markets also contribute to the growth of hazelnut supplies.

The Azerbaijani Association of Hazelnut Producers and Exporters was registered in the Ministry of Justice on October 31, 2016.
