The effective employment opportunities created in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have increased the purchasing power of its population and trade turnover, Trend reports on Apr.23 referring to the report of Nakhchivan’s State Statistical Committee.
According to the report, in the first quarter of 2021, consumer goods and paid services were sold to the republic’s population in the amount of 355.1 million manat ($208.8 million).
"Some 96.9 percent of sold consumer goods accounted for retail turnover. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic ranks first among other economic regions of Azerbaijan in terms of the turnover of retail trade and personal services per person," the report said.
The document noted that in order to improve the quality of services provided to the population, the construction of service centers in the villages of Sharur, Ordubad, and Julfa districts of the republic has been completed.
The volume of GDP of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic amounted to 557.4 million manat ($327.8 million) from January through March 2021, which is 0.6 percent more compared to the same period of 2020,
At the same time, GDP per capita in the autonomous republic amounted to 1,207 manat ($710), having increased by 1.3 percent on an annualized basis.
