By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Copper production of Kazakhstan’s KAZ Minerals amounted to 72,400 tons in 1Q2021 (75,700 tons in 4Q2020), on track to achieve annual guidance of 275,000-295,000 tons, Trend reports citing the company.

Gold production amounted to 39,900 ounces (35,900 ounces in 4Q2020) as Bozymchak contributed for the full quarter following the restart of operations in December 2020, the company said.

1Q2021 copper production at Aktogay mine rose to 33,900 tons (31,900 tons in 4Q2020) due to increased ore throughput and a higher average recovery rate.

Copper cathode production from oxide ore at Aktogay decreased to 3,300 tons (4,600 tons in 4Q2020) due to lower ambient temperatures and maintenance.

Copper production at Bozshakol mine reduced to 26,300 tons in 1Q2021 (31,300 tons in 4Q2020) due to a lower ore throughput as a result of maintenance at the concentrators combined with lower average grades and recovery rate.

Gold production was 26,200 ounces (31,400 ounces in 4Q2020) impacted by reduced ore processed volumes and lower average grades and recovery rate.

Copper production at East Region and Bozymchak mine stood at 12,200 tons (12,500 tons in 4Q2020) as lower grade material was processed.

Gold production equaled 13,700 ounces (4,500 ounces in 4Q2020) following the restart of operations at the Bozymchak mine.

Silver production of 431,000 ounces (362,000 ounces in 4Q2020) and zinc in concentrate output of 9,600 tons (10,200 tons in 4Q2020).
