Iran sees increase in exports through Zanjan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3

The export of through the customs of the Zanjan Province (western Iran) increased by 636 percent in terms of value and 512 percent in terms of volume in the 1st month of the current year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last year, the Director-General of Zanjan Province Customs Office, Mirhashem Ahmadi said, Trend reports citing Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The director-general noted that 16,000 tons of goods worth $30 million exported through customs of Zanjan Province in the first month.

Ahmadi added that the main exported good was zinc ingots, which accounted for 73 percent of total exports through the province’s customs. The goods were mainly exported to Turkey.

“Moreover, 31,000 tons of goods worth $32 million were imported through customs of the province in the first month. The imports increased by 300 percent in terms of value and 306 percent in terms of volume compared to the same month last Iranian year,” he said.

Ahmadi stressed that 70 percent of imported goods were raw materials for manufacturing. About 30 percent of these goods were imported from Turkey.

According to him, the average price of each ton of goods exported through the Zanjan Province's customs was $1,830.

The director-general said that Iran exported goods worth $270 million through the customs of Zanjan Province over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021). The exports increased by 21 percent in terms of value compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020).

“In addition, $411 million worth of goods were imported through the Zanjan Province customs during last Iranian year. The imports increased by 19 percent in terms of value compared to the preceding Iranian year,” he added.
