The average value of each 1 ton of 225 types of agricultural and food products exported by Iran was more than $2,000 in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), an official of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran of Masoud Basiri said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to the Basiri, Iran exported 346 types of agricultural and food products over the last Iranian year.
The official added that however, the average value of 70 percent of Iran's non-oil exports per ton was less than $1,000 in the last Iranian year.
"If the nuclear talks in Vienna yield positive results, the exchange of money and banking operations will be easier," he said.
As reported, Iran exported 8.8 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $6.5 billion within last Iranian year. The exports increased by 14 percent in terms of value and 26 percent in terms of volume, compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020).
Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
