Iran boosts exports of dried fruits, sweets

Exports of Iran's dried fruits and sweets increased by 25 percent in terms of value and 36 percent in terms of volume during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mahmoud Bazari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

The official said that 96,000 tons of dried fruits and sweets worth $212 million were exported within the mentioned period.

“About 18,000 tons of pistachios worth $122 million were exported in the two months, which is an increase of 43 percent in terms of value and 50 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year. The pistachios export accounted for 57 percent of Iran’s total dried fruits exports in terms of value,” he noted.

Bazari added that in addition, Iran exported 48,000 tons of dates worth $42 million over the two months. The dates exports increased by 12 percent in terms of value and 13 percent in term of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

According to him, Iran also exported 27,000 tons of raisins worth $35 million during the reporting period. This is an increase of 50 percent in terms of value and volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The official emphasized that Iran's dried fruits were mainly exported to China, the UAE, India, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Afghanistan and other countries.
