Iran's gold reserves increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

In general, 72 tons of raw gold were added to Iran's gold reserves over the past six years (until March 20, 2021), Trend reports citing the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the report, geological explorations are being conducted in 660,000 square kilometers in 30 provinces of Iran. And about 80 percent of the exploration operations have been completed.

“Additional raw gold reserves may increase by 201 tons as a result of geological explorations within the mentioned period,” the report said.

About 100 more tons will be added to Iran's raw gold reserves by 2041, the report said.

Reportedly, Iran's current gold reserves are 320 tons in 24 mines. Iran produces about 14 tons of gold per year.
