More than 60 percent of Iran's apple exports in terms of value and volume are carried out from the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), Deputy Governor of the West Azerbaijan Province for Economic Affairs, Nader Sadeghi said, Trend reports citing the Governor Office’s information portal.
According him, Iran exported more than 885,000 tons of apples worth $327 million over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
Sadeghi added that the public and private sectors should work closely together to increase the cultivation and export of apples and other horticultural products in the West Azerbaijan Province.
“During 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), $523 million worth of goods were exported from Iran's West Azerbaijan Province. In addition, $1.59 billion worth of goods belongs to other provinces were also exported through the customs of the West Azerbaijan Province,” the deputy governor noted.
