A total of 12.1 million hectares of land will be cultivated in Iran next planting year (September 23, 2021 through September 22, 2022), Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad of Iran Javad Vafabakhsh said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
The deputy minister said that of these, 5.8 million hectares are ordinary, while 5.9 million hectares are dry-farming land.
"About 91.7 million tons of crops will be cultivated in these areas. This means about 69 percent of Iran's total agricultural production," he added.
According to Vafabakhsh, more than 23 million tons of grain, more than 25 million tons of plants and grass, more than 788,000 tons of legumes, more than 14 million tons of industrial products, more than 28 million tons of greens and melons will be cultivated.
The deputy minister emphasized that for the first time, Iran exported seeds in this year. The export of seeds will continue. The Ardabil and Khuzestan provinces can be leaders in this field.
