Georgia's imports of wheat flour have doubled from January through August 2021 compared to the same period of the last year, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).
According to official statistics, during the reporting period, Georgia purchased 9,614 tons of wheat or rye flour worth $2.8 million. In 7M2020 the country purchased 6,630 tons for $1.9 million.
It should be noted that 92.8 percent of the flour purchased by Georgia, accounts for Russia.
Georgia's top import markets:
1. Russia – $2.6 million (9,225.5 tons);
2. Italy - $60,700 (76.1 tons);
3. Turkey – $52,800 (115 tons);
4. Lithuania - $40,600 (142.1 tons);
5. Austria – $28,700 (44.7 tons);
6. France – $12,700 (10.8 tons);
Wheat flour was imported in small quantities from the United Kingdom, Poland and Nigeria.
