Some 7,300 tons of wooden furniture worth $14.7 million were imported to Georgia In the first 7 months of this year, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).
According to Geostat, over the same period last year, Georgia paid $13.8 million for the import of 6,000 tons of wooden furniture.
Georgia's top 3 importers are Turkey - $7.4 million, Italy - $1.7 million, Ukraine - $1.3 million.
As for exports, according to Geostat, Georgia sold $443,000 worth of furniture in the first 7 months of this year, which is $166 more than in the reporting period of 2020. The main consumer of Georgian furniture is Turkmenistan.
From January through July 2021, Georgia's foreign trade turnover reached $7.48 billion, which is 21.7 percent more than the same period last year.
Georgia's exports amounted to $2.27 billion (an increase of 27.8 percent), and imports - $5.2 billion (an increase of 19.3 percent). The trade balance remained negative during this period - at the level of $2.93 billion.
