Iran is planning to increase steel production for domestic needs and export, said deputy minister of Industries, Mine and Trade Mehdi Sadeghi Niyaraki, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The country's steel production during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) stood at 30 million tons, Niyaraki noted.
The production of raw steel and steel products have reached 16 million tons and 14.5 million tons respectively from March 21 to October 22, he said during his visit to the Iran METAFO exhibition.
"The steel industry had grown during this period with various innovative production units," he said.
The 18th Iran METAFO exhibition is being held from 5-8 December in Tehran.
