Iran shares data on mobile phones import

Iran imported a total of 19,580,000 mobile phones and related devices over the past year (November 21, 2020, through November 21, 2021), Spokesman for Iran’s Mobile Importers Association Mohammad Reza Alian told IRNA, Trend reports.

The spokesman said that 18,450,000 of these mobile phones were sold within the country.

“Of the imported mobile phones, 9,749,000 costs around $150-$300 each, while 1,282,000 mobile phones and related devices cost less than $150 each,” he added.

Alian noted that Iran also imported 1,474,000 mobile phones, valued at around $300-$600 each.

“In addition, 1,074,000 mobile phones worth more than $600 each were imported to the country, the most of which were accounted for Apple brands,” the official said.

According to him, within the mentioned 12 months, 9.35 million units Samsung, 2.44 million units Nokia, 5.66 million units Xiaomi, 1.01 million units Apple, and 272,000 units Huawei mobile phones were imported to Iran.

Meanwhile, in the 9th month (November 22 through December 21, 2021), 1.5 million mobile phones were imported to Iran, which is less than 100,000 units than in the 8th month (October 23 through November 21, 2021), Alian added.

He stressed that about 1.4 million units of imported mobile phones were sold within the country.
