BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 24. Iran's imports from neighboring countries increased by 74 percent in value and 34 percent in volume, during the first six months of the new Iranian government (August 23, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman said that Iran imported a total of 14.1 million tons of goods worth $14.5 billion from neighboring countries in 6 months.

“Thus, Iran has imported 7.03 million tons of goods worth $9.17 billion from the UAE, 1.89 million tons worth $2.9 billion from Turkey, 2.39 million tons worth $974 million from Russia, 2.03 million tons worth $873 million from Iraq, 523,000 tons worth $312 million from Oman within the mentioned period,” Latifi added.

The official noted that Iran also imported about 174,000 tons of goods worth $161 million from Pakistan, 72,800 tons worth $27.6 million from Kazakhstan, 10,600 tons worth $21.8 million from Azerbaijan, 19,900 tons worth $14.5 million from Turkmenistan, 11,400 tons worth about $14 million from Afghanistan, 4,330 tons worth $8.16 million from Kuwait, 795 tons worth $3.12 million from Qatar, 82,500 tons worth $876,000 from Bahrain, 3,100 tons worth $6.78 million from other countries.

Within the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), Iran's imports from neighboring countries for the reporting period amounted to about 22 million tons worth $22.7 billion.

This is an increase of 62 percent in value and 65 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In total, Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries for the first 11 months of the current Iranian year amounted to 92.2 million tons worth $46.2 billion, which is an increase of 42 percent in value and 22 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
