BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. In total, 185,000 tons of mushrooms are expected to be harvested in Iran in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Director General of Greenhouses, Ornamental Plants and Edible Mushrooms Affairs Office under the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad Gholamreza Taghavi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

The director general noted that mushroom harvesting in the country is estimated to grow, compared to last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“Meanwhile, last Iranian year, a total of 181,000 tons of mushrooms were harvested in the country,” he added.

Taghavi also said that Iran exported 2,970 tons of mushrooms worth $3.58 million within the first 10 months of the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022). This is an increase of 58.9 percent in value and 48.4 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Thus, Iran had exported 2,000 tons of mushroom worth $2.25 million for the first 10 months of the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through February 19, 2021), Taghavi pointed out.
