Iran expects growth in export of citrus fruits from Mazandaran Province

TEHRAN, Iran, November 16. Iran exports 300 tons of citrus fruits per day from Mazandaran Province to regional countries and is predicted to have considerable growth in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), said the director general of the investment office in Mazandaran Governorate Rahim Bakhshi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The necessary permits have been provided for the daily export of tangerines to Eurasian countries via 20 containers each with the capacity to carry 15 tons, he said.

Mazandaran Province currently exports tangerine and orange to Uzbekistan and other regional countries while the Persian Gulf states have also sought to import citrus fruits from the province, Bakhshi noted.

He pointed out the province has infrastructure for the export of up to $1 billion in citrus fruits to China, while the sorting and packaging centers in Mazandaran have increased from 200 units to 800 to increase export.

The Province’s non-oil export had reached $300 million during the first four months of the current Iranian year indicating 34 percent growth compared to the previous year.
