BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 27. Iran plans to complete the construction of approximately 400 km of railway lines in the country for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the Deputy Director of the Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC), Abbas Khatibi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

“Among the railway lines planned to be launched by the end of the 6th month of the current Iranian year (September 22, 2023), the 175 km long Ardabil- Miyaneh railway line can be mentioned. There is currently an 80-percent physical progress in the construction of this railway line,” Khatibi said.

Additionally, the 151 km long Hamadan-Sanandaj railway line is also planned to be put into use by the end of the 6th month. At present, there is a 90-percent physical progress in the construction of this railway line, the deputy director added.

He also pointed out that in addition, the Rasht-Caspian railway line, which is 35 km long, is expected to be launched by the end of the 3rd month (June 21, 2023). The physical progress in the construction of this railway line is 80 percent. The Rasht-Caspian railway line will serve as a connecting bridge between the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf.

According to Khatibi, 44 kilometers of the Bostanabad-Khavaran railway line are ready to put into use. The total length of this railway line is 176 km. Its 132 km long part was launched in the past years.

Meanwhile, approximately 200 km of railway lines were built in Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
