BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. Iran's raw steel output increased by 0.2 percent in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
As indicated in the data of Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), Iran produced 15.4 million tons of raw steel for 6 months.
Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, this figure stood at 15.3 million tons.
Furthermore, 11.1 million tons of steel products were manufactured in Iran within 6 months, representing a 2.6-percent growth compared to 10.8 million tons in the same period last year.
At the same time, Iran produced approximately 18.9 million tons of sponge iron in 6 months. This is an increase of 5.9 percent compared to 17.8 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
