BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. Imports from Iran’s Khuzestan Province decreased by 1.7 percent in value and 14.5 percent in volume during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
According to him, the province imported $6.8 billion worth of goods, weighing 10 million tons in 8 months.
Gharabeigi added that various kinds of equipment and raw materials were imported through the customs of the province. These goods were mainly imported from China, the UAE, Türkiye and other countries.
The customs official also mentioned that the province’s customs revenue reached 119 trillion rials (about $2.83 billion) in 8 months, which is a 40 percent increase from the same period last year.
Overall, Iran imported 24.7 million tons of goods worth $42.1 billion in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 12 percent in value and 4 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s main import partners in this period were the UAE, China, and Türkiye. The main imported items were corn feed, mobile phones, and soybean seeds.
