BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 29. The iron ore concentrate production of ten major Iranian companies grew by 23 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
The mentioned companies produced 4.75 million tons of iron ore concentrate for the 9th month, according to data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
In the same period as the previous Iranian year, the figure stood at 3.86 million tons.
At the same time, these companies sent 1.49 million tons of iron ore concentrate to relevant companies for steel production in the 9th month, representing an eight-percent decline from about 1.62 million tons in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Iran exported 5.12 million tons of iron ore concentrate worth $460 million during the first nine months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 630 percent in value and 875 percent in volume from the same period last year.
On average, Iran can produce 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. Iron ore concentrate is used in steel production, and Iran has a capacity to produce around 40 million tons of raw steel and steel products annually.
