BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 19. Iran’s Mobarakeh Steel Company remains a major player in the country’s raw steel industry, accounting for 33.2 percent of its output, said the company’s deputy director Gholamreza Salimi, Trend reports.
According to him, Mobarakeh Steel Company of Iran produced over 10.3 million tons of raw steel in 2023.
Salimi also said that the company’s Isfahan facility made 7.33 million tons of raw steel, while its Saba and Hormozgan facilities, both under its management, made 1.5 million tons each.
The World Steel Association reported that the global production of raw steel was around 1.85 billion tons in 2023. Iran’s crude steel production for the reporting period rose by 1.8 percent from 2022 and reached 31.1 million tons.
Reportedly, Iran's annual steel production capacity is around 40 million tons. Iran plans to increase the figure to 55 million tons by 2025.
