State Veterinary Service relies on WB's assistance

The State Veterinary Service under the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry relies on the assistance by the World Bank (WB), Ismayil Hassanov, the head of the Service, told Trend.

According to Hassanov, on Monday they held a meeting with participation of specialists of the both sides. We must draw up and present ours proposals to the bank over 10 days, he added.

The course of the meeting with representatives of WB gives grounds to think that the organization will assist to Azerbaijan in this issue, the head of the Service stressed.

Besides, Azerbaijan will allocate $100,000 from the public budget for purchase of disinfection agents and different equipment.

The representatives of the Veterinary Service will carry out some purchases soon at expense of the funds, allocated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the representative of the state body stressed.

The total sum of the ADBs urgent aid for struggle with bird flu will comprise $250,000. Azerbaijan has already received $50,000 within the first aid to the country. The funds are envisaged for acquisition of special protective clothes and necessary articles for the employees, involved in monitoring and control. ADB develops strategy of aid for control over the situation in relation to risk of bird flu.

Besides, ADB stated about readiness to finance large-scale project. The amount of the financing will be known after approval of the project at the Committee of Directors of the bank soon. The funds will be allocated to the Central Asian region and Azerbaijan.
