The implementation of projects on technical assistance in Azerbaijan under the European Unions TACIS program due to complete in 2006 will continue by 2010, Ruslan Rustamly, the deputy executive director of the EU Coordinating Bureau on technical assistance programs in Azerbaijan, told Trend. Since 1992 till present the country has benefited the assistance under TACIS program in two lines regional projects and directly.
The EUs direct technical assistance to Azerbaijan comprised 419m euros, including 127.5m euros under Tacis program, which were directed at the institutional, administrative and legal reforms, and economic development.
85m euros has been approved under the European Commissions program on food security. The humanitarian assistance amounted to 92m euro, the assistance under EXAP made up 30m euros and REHAB 18m euros.
