Meeting on Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku project to pass in Kazakhstan

Transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Kazakhstan are meeting in July on the project of opening railroad communication Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku, reportedly said Azeri Transport Minister Ziya Mamedov. Assembling in Kazakhstan is explained with interest the country has with this project.

Minister said Georgia has prepared some proposals on the project but they are still kept. Final version of the feasibility study will be discussed in Kazakhstan.

The project was discussed at todays meeting between Transport Minister and Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh.

В"Azerbaijan is interested in this project and we reviewed the work to be done to implement itВ", - Mamedov said.

The project of opening railroad communication Kars-Ahalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku includes construction of 98km long railroad Kars-Ahalkalaki, from which 68km runs in Turkey and 30km in Georgia. Besides, certain reconstruction is required between Ahalkalaki and Tbilisi. The project is estimated in $400mln.
