Within the framework of the project of the UN Development Program and the European Union on Improvement of Customs Services the chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan held a meeting with an international expert, Antony Mort.
During the meeting Aliyev informed about one of the tasks of the SCC for ensuring the durable development of the customs system in Azerbaijan is the improvement of the legislative basis in accordance with the international standards. In this respect work on the development of a new version of the Customs Code has been set up.
Mort stressed that the Azerbaijani customs services has big potential, taking into consideration the ancient history of the establishment of a customs system in the country.
Mort said that the Code envisages the application of information technologies and makes a major accent on the articles stipulating the opportunities and activities of the customs employees. He voiced his confidence the new Customs Code will be adjusted t the international standards.
