646 Employers Fined in amount of AZN 54.429 in First Quarter: Head of Inspection

U.Ismailova / In the first quarter of 2007, the Labour Inspection of Azerbaijani Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population has fined 646 employers in amount of AZN 54.429 for violating the rights of workers, the Head of the Labour Inspection, Nabi Shukurlu, said on 2 June.

According to Shukurlu, in the first quarter of 2007 the Labour Inspection held monitoring in 481 organizations (207 State and 274 non- State). Over the period of January to March, the Labour Inspection received 390 complaints and of them, 381 have been ensured.

Some 2.280 cases of violation were revealed as a result of monitoring due to which 1.953 employers received warnings.

The employers paid off AZN 184.299, as well as AZN 6.490 for damages in the enterprises and AZN 1.041 as different type of compensation.

Two employees dismissed from their works were re-appointed to their previous positions.

Fifty-four accidents took place in the enterprise, where 15 people died and 35 people injured over the first three months.

Twenty-six percent of accidents occurred in the building services and the Inspection is holding additional raids in the construction services.

Established by the Presidential decree, the Labour Inspection is a body ensuring the protection of the rights of workers.
