German Experts to Hold Advanced Training Courses on Veterinary Control in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Rudiger Ost, the representative of the German Agriculture Ministry, and other experts will visit Azerbaijan to implement the fourth stage of a German technical assistance draft in perfecting sanitary norms in Azerbaijan on 9 September. Experts will hold workshops on veterinary control and consultations on the perfection of legislation in this direction.

There are twenty-four phytosanitaries and seventy veterinary rules in the country. Presently, experts are holding inspections corresponding to the World Trade Organization.

Trainings will be held in Germany on the development of instructions to apply WTO standards to be implemented through budgets of technical assistance. Technical assistance is being considered for 2007 and the size of the grant is € 50,000. The grant agreement was signed during the visit of Ismat Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, to Berlin in January 2007.
