Azerbaijani Poultry Farmers not Raising Production Prices

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / The Azerbaijani poultry enterprises are not interested in raising the prices of their own productions after the increased prices of forage, some 80 and 90% of which are purchased from abroad, Aydin Valiyev, the head of the poultry society of Azerbaijan, said.

A range of Azerbaijani poultry farms reduced their production volume due to the rise in prices of forage and some private poultry farms in the Absheron Peninsula and Azerbaijani regions closed down.

The cancellation of VAT for the purchase of forage from Russia, Turkey and Iran may positively affect the prices. Prices of forage increased by 50% or 70% in the last few years.

Poultry farms in Azerbaijan unite 29 enterprises, including Mardakan Broyler, Siyazan Broyler, Devechi Broyler, Zira Broyler, Arco Co, Imishli Broyler and Shamkir Broyler. Twenty-eight of them are poultry and only one is a veterinary drug distributor. The number of employees in Azerbaijan engaged in the poultry business is 15,000 or 20,000.
