Orlen May Increase Import of Azerbaijani Oil for Refining

Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 March / corr. Trend S. Agayeva/ The Polish PKN Orlen may increase the import of Azerbaijani oil produced in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field.

"Orlen refines up to 100,000 tons of oil of Azeri Light brand in Poland, and if Odessa-Brody pipeline turns out to be efficient the company may increase the import of crude oil," Sezariy Stanislav Filipovich, the vice-president of Orlen said in Baku on 7 March.

Orlen has been cooperating with Azerbaijan within the framework of the extension of Odessa-Brody up to Plotsk, and an agreement on feasibility study was signed during the Vilnius summit held in October 2007 among the respective heads of Governments of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania and Poland.

"We also want to take part in the production of Azerbaijani oil," Filipovich said. Polish company PKN Orlen has introduced its proposal to the Azerbaijani government on the production of oil in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea. This issue was discussed during the current visit of company members' visit to Baku.

The member Orlen said that the company wants to work precisely in that kind of fields.

" Azerbaijan is a great player in the world energy sector and Orlen wishes to enhance cooperation with Azerbaijan," Filipovich said.
