A major gas supplier in Europe, the Norwegian StatoilHydro is negotiating with the Kazakh government to enter the Kazakh section of the Caspian shelf, CEO of StatoilHydro Kazakhstan, Odd Magne Instefjord told journalists.
"We are in talks with Kazakhstan to develop a number of offshore blocks in the Caspian shelf," said Instefjord. He did not divulge these blocks.
He said the negotiations with the government of Kazakhstan were held behind closed doors.
"So I cannot divulge the offshore blocks. As you know, we previously showed interest in the block of Abay. But beside it, there are many other blocks on the shelf," said the head of StatoilHydro Kazakhstan.
