Kazakhstan has decreased its gas supplies to the North of Kyrgyzstan to 40,000 cubic meters per hour, 24.kg quotes Kyrgyzgas's deputy director Eugene Orlenko on Monday as saying.

He said Kazakhstan's company KazTransGaz sent a phone telegram to Kyrgyzstan on Saturday notifying about decrease in fuel supply volumes.

"Kazakhstan faced natural gas shortage due to the decrease of gas production in Uzbekistan so it is not able to provide Kyrgyzstan with needed gas volume," Orlenko added.

He said to economize on gas, Kyrgyzgas decided to cut off gas supplies to the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant (TPP) for three days.
