New oil and gas projects will be realized in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, Uzbekneftegaz JSC reported.
During the recent visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Surkhandarya region, new projects, including further exploration and development of 'Mustakillikining 25 Yilligi" and construction of a gas chemical complex in the Surkhandarya region were presented. Furthermore, the site where the new gas processing plant and gas chemical complex will be located was agreed upon.
The project will be implemented in two phases. The first stage stipulates further exploration of the major field. The stage envisages drilling and overhaul of wells, the extraction of natural gas and construction of a gas processing plant for the processing of natural gas.
At the second stage, it is planned to expand the plant's capacity, construct a gas chemical complex for the production of polymer products.
The total volume of investments is estimated at the level of $5.8 billion.
The project will be financed based on the principles of international project financing with the involvement of major international financial institutions and export credit agencies.
Uzbekistan's proven natural gas reserves stand at 1.1 trillion cubic meters. Total reserves are estimated at 5 trillion cubic meters.
in 2017 2017, gas production in Uzbekistan amounted to 56.4 billion cubic meters. This year, this figure is planned to be brought to 66 billion.
