Uzbekistan has begun the reconstruction of a 63-kilometer section of 500 kV Guzar - Regar (Uzbekistan- Tajikistan) transmission lines, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
According to the ministry, a number of joint investment projects are being implemented by Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in order to maintain a balance of energy and water resources, as well as a sustainable supply of electricity to consumers.
In particular, the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC is implementing the investment project on reconstruction of the 500 kV power transmission line Guzar - Regar (L-507).”
It is reported that the completion of the reconstruction of this section is expected in the fourth quarter of this year. It was also noted that the initial cost of the project is estimated at $25 million.
The ministry noted that this investment project will be implemented in cooperation with the Chinese company Shanghai Electric Power Transmission & Distribution, the winner of an international tender.
Moreover, the project is being implemented based on the protocol of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. According to the ministry, the project is aimed at ensuring the reliability of the power supply with the parallel operation of the power systems of the two states.
