Iran continues gasoline exports

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.24

Trend:

The secretary-general of the Oil Refining Industry Cooperative Association has announced Iran is currently exporting 10 million liters of gasoline per day from its excess consumption.

In case the consumption continues to grow the country might import gasoline in future years, Nasser Ashouri has indicated.

The country's oil refineries are currently producing 100 million liters of gasoline and the country's daily consumption is 90 million liters and currently, 10 million liters from excess consumption are being exported.

Iran's refineries are currently working in three shifts and the country has become self-sufficient from gasoline import since 2018 by operation of Persian Gulf Star Refinery and gradually turns into an exporter.

"But in case the consumption grows in future years we should import gasoline and the government should develop CNG fuel and low consumption automaking industry. There would be no problem in continuing production, even if sanctions intensify however construction of new refineries is time-consuming," he noted.

Iran has approved the construction of several new refineries, Anahita refinery in Kermanshah Province and the Pars refinery in Fars Province is in the designing stage.
