Iran’s NISOC announces date for launch of extraction from Kish gas field

Iran will start extraction from the Kish gas field in the Persian Gulf in two years (March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) under the program of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister, and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The CEO said that in this regard, the 1st phase of the Kish gas field is to be launched by the mentioned period and a 200 km long pipeline is to be laid for transportation of gas extracted from the 1st phase.

“There are 14 wells in the Kish gas field. Well acidizing operations should be carried out in these wells,” he added.

According to Khojasteh Mehr, in addition, research has been launched to assess the field and it is estimated that the field will produce 100 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Iran's Kish gas field contains 55.5 trillion cubic feet (about 1.57 billion cubic meters) of gas and 514 million barrels of gas condensate. As reported the field can be extracted 38.3 trillion cubic feet (about 1.08 billion cubic meters) of gas.

According to the plan for the development of this field, 1st phase will produce 1 billion cubic feet (about 28.3 million cubic meters) of gas per day.
