BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Hungary expressed interest in importing natural gas from Turkmenistan, which could mitigate the energy crisis in Europe, Trend reports.
According to official information, this was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, who, together with the delegation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.
According to him, the military actions in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed by the European Union have led to a crisis that can be solved primarily through the use of new energy sources.
Szijjarto noted that Hungary considers Turkmen gas as one of the possible solutions to the current energy crisis in Europe, and also added that Turkmenistan has significant reserves of natural gas, but there are no routes for its delivery to Europe yet.
In this regard, the Minister stated that Hungary is extremely interested in creating an infrastructure that will enable the inclusion of Turkmen gas in the energy system of European countries, including Hungary.
