Iran’ draft budget announces its gas export target for next year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 22. Iranian government has proposed to export 11 billion cubic meters of gas according the draft of the state budget in the next Iranian year (March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), Trend reports.

On November 21, 2023, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi presented the country's state budget draft for next year to the parliament for review and approval.

The government of Iran submits the proposed draft budget to the parliament, which has to accept it. If not, the draft budget bill is returned to the government for revision.

According to the draft budget, the cost of each cubic meter of gas exported next year is 29 euros.

If Iran is able to sell gas in the quantities envisaged in the draft state budget, the value of gas exports will be 319 billion euros.

In Iran's draft state budget next year, revenues are expected to be 24.6 quadrillion rials (about $586 billion), while in the state budget of the current year, the figure was estimated at 20.8 billion rials (about $496 billion).

On average, Iran currently produces about 259 billion cubic meters of gas annually and more than 800 million cubic meters daily.

Meanwhile, Iran’s average gas export is reportedly 38 million cubic meters per day.

Iran has the second-largest gas reserves in the world, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. The country’s gas production capacity is reportedly more than 1 billion cubic meters.
