Azerbaijan sees increase volume of loans issued for construction sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 30

The volume of loans issued by banks to the construction sector in Azerbaijan in 10M2021 increased by 447.6 million manats ($263.4 million), or 103.5 percent compared to the same period last year - up to 879.9 million manats ($517.7 million), Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, the volume of loans issued to the construction sector during the same period last year amounted to 432.3 million manats ($254.6 million), or 2.9 percent of the total lending to the real sector of the economy.

Also, short-term loans issued to legal entities in this sector in 10M2021 amounted to 230.5 million manats ($135.6 million), of which 147.8 million fell on loans in the national currency and 82.7 million ($48.7 million) in foreign currency equivalent.

Long-term loans issued to legal entities amounted to 376 million manats ($221.2 million), of which 219.9 million ($171.7 million) fell on loans in the national currency, 156.1 million ($91.8 million) in foreign currency equivalent.

In addition, the share of the construction sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 5.4 percent, which is 2.5 percent more than in the same period of 2020.
