BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. General Electric HealthCare, a major healthcare production manufacturer, considers localizing production in Kazakhstan, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan.

The company is interested in localizing the production of four types of ultrasound machines, as well as computer tomography scanners.

GE HealthCare already provided Kazakhstan with proposals for amending the regulatory framework regarding the rules of medical equipment procurement and the conclusion of “off-take” contracts.

Additionally, the healthcare giant is prepared to provide education and training programs to assist the capacity building of local specialists. Consequently, this will enable Kazakh medical professionals to utilize medical production more effectively.

Kazakhstan is actively developing cooperation with major healthcare companies and offers them to localize their production in Kazakhstan. Earlier, Kazakhstan and AstraZeneca, a multinational healthcare company, agreed to launch production in Kazakhstan. AstraZeneca, which will initially base at Kazakh pharmaceutical companies, plans to build its own plants in the country at a later date.
