ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 26. Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have reached an agreement on several veterinary certificates, Trend reports via the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.

This initiative is part of the ministry's strategy to develop the agricultural sector and strengthen Kazakhstan's global position.

Thanks to the agreement, Kazakh producers will be able to export milk and dairy products from both cattle and small ruminants to Azerbaijan.

An agreement was also reached on the supply of poultry meat, by-products, and secondary products.

Additionally, the parties agreed to sign a veterinary certificate for the export of camels and other members of the camel family, as well as canned goods, sausages, and other processed meat products.

Kazakhstan's Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, commenting on the agreements reached, noted that this agreement opens up new opportunities for expanding Kazakh exports and strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries in the livestock sector.

"I am confident that it will contribute to economic growth and prosperity," he said.

The ministry pointed out that work to expand the range of Kazakhstan's export products continues.

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan from January through May 2024 amounted to $234 million, which is four percent less than the same period in 2023 ($243.7 million).

At the same time, exports to Azerbaijan dominated the trade turnover, amounting to $213.8 million, or 3.2 percent more than from January through May 2023 ($207.2 million).

Moreover, imports from Azerbaijan during the first five months of this year fell by 45 percent to $20.1 million, compared to $36.5 million in the same period in 2023.
