Constitutional Chamber to be opened in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan 's Parliament passed the draft law on the Constitutional Chamber. Such decision was made at the plenary session today, 24.kg reported.

According to the law, the Constitutional Chamber will under the Supreme Court and its members will have the status of judges.

Decisions of the Constitutional Chamber are final and are not subject to appeal. If the Constitutional Chamber decides that the verdict issued by previous instance contradicts the norms of the Main Law then the defendant is obliged to appeal to the court passed the judgment. Suggestion of the member of Ata-Zhurt faction, Kurmanbek Osmonov, to create a special court presidium for appeal wasn't supported by the parliament members.

The draft law was submitted to the president for transitional period Roza Otunbayeva for signature.
