Kyrgyzstan plans to increase rental price for three Russian military bases on its territory, RIA- Novosti reported, quoting Kyrgyz Defense Minister Major-General Taalaibek Omuraliyev.

Currently there are four Russian military bases in Kyrgyzstan, including Kant air base working for Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

"We will ask Russia to increase the rental price due to inflation since 2014, when the rent term of these bases expires," the minister said.

Meanwhile, according to the Minister, Kant's rental price will not be increased.

"Kyrgyzstan pays itself for utilities of Kant airbase, an annual payment for this base hit 300 million soum [100 soum = $2.1135] per year" Omuraliyev said.

Four Russian military facilities are now deployed in Kyrgyzstan: an air base in Kant, the base of underwater weapons testing in Karakol, the center of military communications in the Kara-Balta, radio-seismic laboratory in Maily-Suu. According to Collective Security Treaty Organization's agreements, Kyrgyzstan does not receive payments for Kant airbase, because it works for this organization.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz leadership repeatedly said about intention to increase rental prices for Russian military facilities located on its territory.
