BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 8. Daily, more than 17,000 individuals cross the multifunctional border checkpoint Dostuk," located in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan along the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border, Trend reports.
Additionally, over 300 cargo and passenger vehicles cross this checkpoint every day.
Simultaneously, the border checkpoint "Kaytpas" on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border in Kyrgyzstan's Batken region, with a capacity of up to 2,000 people, actually processes more than 5,000 individuals and over 500 passenger cars daily.
During a media tour of these border checkpoints, it was noted that there has been an overall increase in passenger traffic at "Dostuk" and "Kaytpas" since September 1.
Meanwhile, following negotiations between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached to resume the operation of border checkpoints "Kara-Bagysh" in the Osh region and "Bek-Abad" in the Jalal-Abad region starting September 1. These checkpoints were closed by Uzbekistan in 2010.
Furthermore, citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan can cross the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border using ID cards in addition to international passports starting on September 1.
