Kyrgyzstan's imports from Germany soar in 7M2023

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 21. Trade between Kyrgyzstan and Germany reached a total of $241.548 million from January through July 2023, which is an increase of 4.3 times compared to the same period in 2022 ($56.025 million), Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan's State Statistical Committee shows that this trade accounted for 3 percent of Kyrgyzstan's overall trade volume. This places Germany among the top European trade partners of Kyrgyzstan, with Switzerland being the only country surpassing it at $384.073 million, or 4.7 percent of Kyrgyzstan's trade.

Kyrgyzstan's imports from Germany amounted to $236.661 million from January through July 2023, making up 3.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports. This import figure increased by 4.8 times compared to the same period in 2022 when it stood at $48.320 million.

In contrast, Kyrgyzstan's exports to Germany decreased by 36 percent year-on-year, dropping from $7.705 million to $4.886 million. This export value accounted for 3.6 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total trade.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $8.153 billion from January through July 2023, which is an increase of 32.3 percent compared to the same months of 2022.

Exports amounted to $1.602 billion, increasing by 45.6 percent compared to the corresponding months of 2022. Imports rose by 29.4 percent year-on-year, totaling $6.551 billion.
