BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. Bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan have been on the trajectory of sustainable development since 2021, and the dynamics and level of bilateral contacts have increased, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan Kairat Osmonaliyev said during an interview with Trend.
According to the ambassador, the data from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan increased by 4.85 times from January through July 2023 year-on-year. Kyrgyz imports from Azerbaijan amounted to $19.4 million from January through July 2023, which is 18.59 times more year-on-year ($1.045 million).
The diplomat emphasized that there is still great potential for further development of economic relations between the countries. He also said that at the end of 2022, exports from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan increased 1.3 times to $5.7 million, while imports decreased 1.8 times to $3.1 million.
Kairat Osmonaliyev also noted that the Embassy has done work to launch a direct flight Baku-Bishkek, which, for the first time after a seven-year break, was performed by Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) on July 22.
