Kyrgyzstan increases import of passenger cars from South Korea

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 5. Kyrgyzstan imported 42,033 passenger cars from South Korea for $352.884 million from January through October 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the volume of imports rose by 7.3 times compared to the same period in 2022 (5,755 cars). The value increased by nine times compared to the 10 months of 2022, when it amounted to $39.011 million.

In the ranking of countries from which Kyrgyzstan imported passenger cars from January through October 2023, South Korea holds the second position. The largest number of cars imported to Kyrgyzstan was from China—44,720 cars for $688.718 million.

Following were the imports between the US (16,275 cars for $173.802 million), Russia (12,068 cars for $117 million), and Japan (9,923 cars for $169 million).

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 143,829 passenger cars, amounting to more than $1.972 billion from January through October of 2023. The import volume increased by 4.9 times compared to the same period in 2022, while the value rose by 5.7 times year-on-year.
