DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 18. The annual inflation rate in Tajikistan for February 2024 stood at 3.6 percent, Trend reports.

The National Bank of Tajikistan reported that inflation slowed down from 3.8 percent year-on-year in January.

In February 2024, Tajikistan recorded a monthly inflation rate of 0.3 percent, which is lower than the 0.4 percent in January of the same year.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) believes that the stability of the national currency has had a restraining effect on price growth in the country. Since March 2003, the exchange rate of the somoni has remained stable at around 10.95-10.96 per dollar.

According to the EDB, inflationary pressure from imports also remains moderate, thanks to the stability of energy commodity prices in international markets and their decline in food markets.

The targeted inflation rate for the medium term in the country is set at 6 percent (±2). In 2023, Tajikistan's inflation rate was 3.8 percent, which was 0.4 percent lower than in 2022 (4.2 percent).
